What We Do

Global Weapons Removal and Abatement (WRA) Support

ADVANCING PEACE AND PROTECTING LOCAL POPULATIONS

DynCorp International (DI) supports the U.S. Department of State's Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement worldwide in the destruction and safe handling and proper storage or securing of small arms and light weapons (SA/LW), stockpiled munitions, abandoned ordnance, man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), and other conventional weapons.

DI also supports the U.S. Department of State's PM/WRA Office with a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) that deploys worldwide. The QRF is a team of fully trained and certified weapons removal and abatement technical specialists, with a support infrastructure capable of rapidly implementing conventional weapons destruction and mitigation.

Working in cooperation with the U.S. DoS and international organizations since 2005, DI helps promote conflict resolution and develop host nation capacity by protecting local populations in critical regions throughout the world.

AFGHANISTAN

  • Advise, Provide Technical Assistance, and Oversee Grant Funding to Five Afghan Demining Non-governmental Organizations
  • Train and Advise Eight Afghan Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Teams
  • Support the National Ammunition Survey Process
  • Provide Victim's Assistance

CAMBODIA

  • Manage, Disburse, and Monitor U.S. Financial Support
  • Provide a Technical Advisor To Work with the Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC)
  • Provide Classroom EOD Training to CMAC and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces
  • Expand the Scope of EOD Training to CMAC to Include Ammunition Disposal

ECUADOR

  • Provide UN EOD Level 3 Training to Ecuadoran Military Personnel
  • Provide Assistance in the Destruction of:
    • 100 man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS)
    • Approximately 228 tons of unserviceable ammunition

GEORGIA

  • Assess the Scale and Impact of Abandoned Weapons and Ammunition
  • Collect Information on Quantities and Types of Explosive Hazards, as well as Physical Security Needs
  • Gather Information on National Demilitarization Capabilities and Potential to Address the Problem
  • Explore Complementing Ammunition/Weapons Destruction Projects

HONDURAS
Provide assistance in the destruction of:

  • 14,000 SA/LW
  • Approximately 400 Tons of Ammunition

LEBANON

  • Develop a National Organization that Integrates all Aspects of Humanitarian Mine Action
  • Assist the Lebanese Mine Action Center with the Development and Management of a Quality Demining Program
  • Provide Equipment, Including Mine Detectors and Protective Equipment
  • Provide Training on Demolition Skills and new Demining Technologies
  • Complete a Technical Survey of all Minefields and Mark Them

PARAGUAY
Provide assistance in the destruction of:

  • 2,900 obsolete weapons
  • Approximately 65 tons of large-caliber ammunition

SIERRA LEONE
Provide assistance in the destruction of:

  • Approximately 11,000 items of unserviceable ammunition
